This year we had a hand me down outfit from my niece Chili that was a cute cow. Unfortunately, I didn't put it on Abby until last week, when we realized it was too small for her. So, we went with the Colts cheerleader this year, to make everyone's lives easy.
Below are some shots from the day - the first from when we got home from daycare and I took her pacifier away. She seemed to cheer up once she realized people were giving her sweet things for no reason, and then proceeded to take them out one by one after each house.
Abby and I will be flying alone together on our way out to Texas the week of Thanksgiving. We've got one two hour flight, and then a second very short flight on a very small plane. I'm trying to come up with stuff to entertain her as she sits pleasantly on my lap for that amount of time (which will hopefully turn in to nap time at some point, since we are flying later in the day). Any tips you've got for flying, other than bringing money to hand out to fellow passengers, please send my way!
So, we didn't end up taking Abby to the dentist, in case you were wondering about our previous post. Her teeth are fine, and so is she, thank goodness.
I picked her up from daycare one day last week and she had these pigtails - her teachers were successful in distracting her from pulling them out. Kudos to them. They said she reminded them of the Coppertone baby. You know, the really tan one? Right. Like this poor child is ever going to have a tan in her entire life.
The photo with her hand over her eye is the one handed version of "Where's Abby?" It goes like this: she puts her hands over her face, you say "Where's Abby?", and then she takes them down and you act surprised to find her and she squeals. I'm going to try it at work tomorrow.
So, if you're a mother and have a child in daycare, you know what it's like to look down at your ringing phone and see the number of the daycare calling. I was the recipient of one of those calls this afternoon right before I was leaving work. I figured it was another biting incident (Abby hasn't ever bitten another child, only been the recipient after stealing toys, etc.). This one I didn't see coming.
Long story short, Abby someone got her mouth stuck on the handle of a push toy - I know, right? - and she scraped the back of her 4 bottom teeth and one of them is loose. Awesome. Good times.
So I get to daycare, after talking to the pediatrician and making an appointment at the dentist for tomorrow morning, and she is up front with the Director because she's in a lot of pain. Poor baby.
So, we'll be off to try and see how great this pediatric dentist is. I'll be impressed if he/she can get their hands in her mouth to see anything. I feel some good pacifier time coming on for our little girl.
I took Abby outside for some quick photos before bedtime, since her curls are so cute right after she's had a bath. Nice camo PJ's, right?
We're thinking of entering here in the beauty pageant in her age group at the county fair in a few weeks - I'm thinking about it, at least, just for the humor factor and for the photos. Dad isn't quite so sure it's a good idea. Anyway - it made me laugh a lot when I thought about it on Friday.
Any moms out there with suggestions for how to ease the teething pain, please send them our way. We've tried Orajel and a frozen teething ring, the homeopathic teething drops and Tylenol. Time may be the best cure, but we'd sure like to comfort her if possible.
A bit of info for other moms out there - apparently a lot of toddlers this age get fractures in their leg bones at this age because of going down slides and stopping their body weight with their feet. One of Abby's classmates is in a cast because of this - and they think she did it at daycare one day. Knowledge is power!
Holla at ya boy, for all my Project Runway fans.
So, here's a progressive shot of our afternoon after daycare and work. We get home, and what do we like to do? Play in the car. Shot 2 is what happens when mom makes us come inside. Shot 3 is Dad coming home and having an Oreo cookie. Chocolate really does fix anything. Except, maybe, our need to use our "nice hands" at daycare. Some how we are supposed to be working on that at home with her. Any suggestions are welcome . . .
