Grandma bought a "dome climber" for the backyard - and it said that it was for ages 3+. It may have been more helpful to put a minimum height requirement, as we'll be looking at this as yard art until Abby adds some inches. I guess we could look in to patenting some Croc add ons . . .
Bravo to my husband who put this together on his own, even though the instructions clearly said two adults were needed for assembly.
Lexi weighed in at 10 pounds, 6 ounces and Will was 11 pounds, 7 ounces. They each got 6 shots - one was an oral one, which Lexi thought was a bit much, so she just spit it up, along with most of her bottle. They've been a little sleepy as a result of the shots, but not too fussy (the night is still young, though). Here's some shots for your enjoyment!
Here's some shots of Abby doing her thing in the backyard pool Nana got for her. This particular day it was about 9 a.m. and the water was really cold, but she didn't seem to mind.
The group shot is 4 generations of my family on my mom's side - it was a real treat to have great Grandma here to help change and feed the twins. You can tell Will is loving being the only guy in the photo.
Here's some recent shots of all three kiddos - we think Will is packing 12 pounds and Lexi at least 10. My side of the family departed yesterday, and we've welcomed "Miss Janett" for the week from Indiana. She's yet to have a ride in the car without one of our family members screaming/crying, but she hasn't run away yet.
We've got a new roof and a repaired air conditioner (for now). We had a family outing to the Shroyer household when the AC went on the fritz last week (because of the roofers - good times), and took an inflatable toddler bed for Abby to sleep in, which she has continued to sleep in at home. It's on the floor next to her crib, so we'll see how things go this week and we may take down her crib next weekend.
The twins are eating 7 times a day, going most nights from their 11 p.m. feed to their 4 a.m. feed. I calculated that Will is taking in about 42 ounces a day (recommended is 24-32 ounces), so we guess he's going to be a linebacker or something. We go for the 2 month check up on Thursday, so we'll update with actual weights and how long they screamed after their shots. :)
All was well at my 6 week follow up appointment. Since we haven't been to the pediatrician since the twins 2 week check up, the gals at the OB let us weigh the twins there. Lexi came in at 9 lbs. and Will has entered the double digits at 10 lbs. We're really excited about that, and the fact that Lexi will use up the last of our newborn diapers and move into size 1 with her brother soon. We've cleared out the premie and newborn size clothes and have moved into the 0-3 month onesies. Not much else to report - Grandma has a new laptop and has been our resident photographer, so we'll try to get more photos up soon. (Poor second and third kids - they totally get the shaft.)
Our 4th of July ended up being very eventful - we started the day by hauling everyone out to the Cumming "parade", which, in my opinion, wasn't so much of a parade but more of an hour and a half of steam engines going down the street making a lot of really loud noises. We managed not to have to cook a meal of our own that day; lunch and dinner were both cookouts with some of our friends and their families.
One milestone: Will is now in size one diapers, so that means we're at least giving him enough food to pack on a few pounds. No idea how much they both weigh - other than "less than Abby". Next week they'll brave their first Sunday in the nursery at church; later on this week I'll go for my 6 week check up. Pretty exciting stuff. I can't even begin to tell you about the stuff happening on the fabulous summer reality shows (T.O. on some competition show? Seriously.) I can say that "Wipeout" is highly recommended as comic relief during 3 a.m. feedings when your child won't go back to sleep.
Here's a shot from our Friday festivities - Abby and Harper hanging out on a cornhole platform - a game where you throw bean bags across the lawn and try to get them "in the hole" (imagine that one guy that always shouts that when Tiger hits a ball).
Here's the best I could do for one month photos of the twins - quite different from what I attempted with Abby two years ago. Poor second and third kids. Currently they are working on developing their vocal chords, pushing caretakers to the point of exhaustion, creating dirty diapers, and stretching the capacity of their stomachs.
Grandma Staplin came back yesterday (thank God, as Monday and Tuesday before she arrived were extremely sketchy) and we're trying to work out a feeding routine. Let the great science experiment called infancy begin.
